The future of engineering
It’s fantastic to work with people who are making an impact. Like the good folk at PLD (People Led Digitalisation), a Made Smarter Innovation initiative.
Prof. Linda Newnes (pictured below) and the team were at MIT for the 29th International Society of Transdisciplinary Engineering (ISTE) sharing their views from the stage and workshops on the future of engineering globally.
We took a peek into this world when we helped give this academic consortium a visual identity. Within the prevailing brand guidelines of Made Smarter Innovation, we were able to create a design that put the human into the brand (Can you see what we did there?) along with some simple usage instructions. Creating visual symbols has a disproportionately positive impact, particularly for complex offerings which too often exist in the mind and are open to individual interpretation. This makes communication unnecessarily difficult and ultimately slows progress. In this case, a relatively small intervention helped to support the team with the sharing of, at times, technically challenging expertise and give them a sense of direction.
Deputy Director Susan Lattanzio said “Working with Firehaus has been a brilliant experience. The team have held our hand through the whole process delivering exactly what we needed within our budget. We are delighted with our new logo. We would definitely recommend them!”
They’ve gone on to call him Eric.
Why?
You’ll have to ask them.
